Building a Relationship that Builds Health

As a couple in their 70s, John and his wife Wanda have lived great, active lives. “We’ve put our bodies through a lot,” says John. “Between being active in sports and the gym throughout the years, and experiencing some work-related injuries, we’ve beaten ourselves up a bit!”

With their level of activity and the occasional injury, throughout the years John and Wanda have sought out practitioners that are able to help them regain and retain great health. So, when they moved from California to Minnesota, they needed to find a new care team to keep them feeling their best.

Working By Referral Only

John and Wanda’s life experience has taught them that referrals from trusted family, friends, and coworkers have always led them to finding great care.

“My experience in healthcare is extensive (45+ years as a pharmacist),” explains John. “I could go to people who were physicians, maybe not in the specialty I needed, and ask them for referrals and was never disappointed. I’d ask something like, ‘if this was your mother, who would you recommend?’ If I had a business card, it’d say ‘I work by referral only!’,” he jokes. “I only go places where someone I know and trust recommends it.”

John’s ‘by referral only’ stance holds true with how he found Valeo.

“We ended up at Valeo due to a recommendation from our son, who (along with the rest of his family) has been a patient of Dr. Aaron’s for many years,” tells John. “In personal care matters, it’s hard to trust someone out of the gate… but our son had nothing less than great things to say about Dr. Aaron as both a clinician and person! And, I would have to agree. It’s been smooth sailing from the very beginning.”

Superior Service

One of Valeo’s values that are at the center of how we do business is “superior service.” (Read about our values here.)

“I have been around clinical medicine for my entire adult life as a pharmacist, in industry and as a patient of many medical disciplines,” says John, adding, “I have been blessed with astoundingly good medical care [throughout my life, yet few practitioners in allopathic medicine had ever taken such a complete medical history as it related to my first visit like Dr. Aaron did.”

At Valeo, our care extends beyond the physical. “I must say that being unaccustomed to such a practice in the medical/chiropractic realm in my life, I do feel a great sense of calm, comfort and gratitude when Dr. Aaron prays over me at the conclusion of an office visit. I know it is something good for both of us.”

A Healing Atmosphere

We’ve heard from patients that there’s just something special about Valeo… that they start to feel better the moment they walk into the office.

“The atmosphere of the office is relaxing. It’s a warm and giving place, and very effective. Everything from the moment you walk in… from beginning to end it’s a real seamless process!” says John. “And my blood pressure has never been lower than when I’m with Dr. Aaron! He cares about you physically and spiritually, and he makes conversation easy.”

Staying Aligned, Staying Active

Thanks to John and Wanda’s approach to life and how to take care of their bodies, they’ve been able to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.

“Even after a past work-related injury in which Wanda hurt her ankle to the point of needing surgery and screws, she is still teaching Jazzercise!” John shares. “She knew that the surgery would affect her gait, which in turn would affect her back, so she has been receiving chiropractic care for some time to make sure she can continue to move freely.”

John and Wanda’s experience with chiropractic is not only rehabilitative. “I have a lot of things to do around the house that I’d prefer to do manually,” shares John. “Take mowing for example. At 72, I am still mowing my own 1/3rd acre of hilly yard. I’m sweating, my heart rate is up… I look at housework as a workout, and I feel that using chiropractic as a preventative measure helps me be able to continue to do that. Preventative maintenance pays great dividends.”
