Physical Exams

Check in with your body often and identify issues early.

Did you know that most chronic illnesses start 20 – 30 years before any symptoms show up? Having thorough routine physical exams can help catch these chronic illnesses before they become a bigger problem and start developing symptoms.

Physical Exams

Physical exams at Valeo cover the same things a physical at a conventional medical practice cover, with the benefit of assessing several additional areas, such as diet, musculoskeletal health, and brain health.

During your physical exam, the doctor will assess:

  • Brief history and health questionnaires
  • Diet evaluation and recommendations (based on food log and personal goals)
  • Posture analysis
  • Functional muscle testing
  • Neurological exam
  • Physical assessment of muscles and joints
  • Height
  • Weight
  • Blood pressure (ages 14 and up)

Concussion Screenings

We will conduct a baseline concussion assessment, or if you suspect a concussion, we will determine the status of a concussion and recommend a protocol to help you heal. Available to current Valeo patients. New patients will need to do a full physical exam prior to a concussion screening.

  • Neurological exam
  • Concussion baseline (if no suspected concussion)
  • Dietary evaluation

Sports Physicals

Patient and practitioner will fill out the Minnesota State High School League Sports Physical Clearance Form.

  • Brief history
  • Posture analysis
  • Functional muscle testing
  • Neurological exam
  • Physical assessment of muscles and joints
  • Height
  • Weight
  • Blood pressure
  • Anything else required by physical forms

Additional Labs

Adding blood labs to your yearly routine gives you a more thorough look at your health, inspecting things that can’t always be detected from a regular exam. Our recommended lab includes:

  • CBC Differential
  • Complete Metabolic Panel
  • Lipid Panel
  • Full Thyroid Panel
  • Liver Function
  • Kidney Function
  • Anemia Panel
  • Electrolyte Levels
  • Inflammatory Markers
  • CRP, Homocysteine
  • Vitamin D
  • Urinalysis

These labs can cost $500 – $2,000 at your primary care physician or other facilities. At Valeo, this lab is substantially less expensive. Call our office at 952-949-0676 for more information.
