Chiropractic and My Kids

Natalie and I have been blessed with 3 wonderful kids. We have twin daughters and a son. When our girls were born, they went through a pretty traumatic birth, but they seemed to be pretty healthy until they were about 9 months old. They got sick. They had green stuff coming out their eyes, ears, and nose. We took them to the doctor who diagnosed them with ear infections and put them on an antibiotic. The infection cleared up, but about a month later, they were sick again. We went back to the doctor’s office for another round of antibiotics. Things cleared up again, but about a month later, we were back at the doctor’s office again. This went on for roughly the next 18 months. Finally, I asked the doctor if there was anything else that we could do, and he said tubes would be the next step. We didn’t know what else to do so we figured that was what we would have to do.

It Started With Ear Infections

Around the same time, I began chiropractic school, and I remember telling my classmates that our kids needed tubes in their ears. They asked me why I wasn’t taking them to the chiropractor. I thought they must have misunderstood me. “They have ear infections — not back pain.” They said they heard me, but chiropractic can help with ear infections. My experience with chiropractic had always been when you hurt your back you go to the chiropractor. We liked the idea of trying that first before having surgery. We took them to the chiropractor.

When we met with him, he asked about their diet, their vaccines, and about their birth. He found that they had misalignments or subluxations in their necks which was probably from their birth, and told us that it could be interfering with the immune system’s ability to work at its best. He also discussed improving their diets and to considered looking deeper into vaccines. All of this made so much sense. The other doctor did not discuss any of this with us.

We made many of the changes the doctor recommended, and within a few months, the girls were better. Our daughters are now 18 years old, and they eat very healthy and get adjusted regularly. They have never needed to go to the doctor for any specific health issues since we went down that path. Not because we are against it, but we have not needed to.

Relieved Baby’s Constipation

Our son’s first visit to the chiropractor was at 2 weeks old. He hadn’t pooped for about one week. He seemed to be fine until he went in and got the hepatitis B shot. From that day, he started grunting all the time and couldn’t eliminate. We took him to see the chiropractor, and she adjusted his atlas (the top bone in his spine). As soon as she did, he pooped instantly and probably another 3 or 4 times in about 10 minutes. We wondered if there was a switch that we could turn it off. It was incredible! Our son is now 15 years old, and same thing we have never had to take him in for any specific illness. Recently though, we discovered that his tonsils were so large that they were touching his uvula (the thing that dangles at the back of the throat). He had never even had a sore throat so we were shocked. He ended up getting them removed. As you can see, we are not against medical intervention when it is needed.

Discount Exam and Adjustment Days for Kids

When we started Valeo Health and Wellness, we have always promoted that the entire family should be getting checked and adjusted to make sure that the communication between the brain and body through the nervous system is working. We know how critical that it is. We also know that it is not cheap to get the entire family checked. Due to this we have seen many people have to make a choice of who should get adjusted. We would like to help make that choice easier, so we started Kids Days — one day a month where you can bring in your kids at a lower cost so that they can be checked and adjusted on a regular basis. For all kids 13 and under, the cost is $25/visit. If they have never been checked before, they will need an initial exam, but the cost is $25 for the exam on those days as well. Our hope in doing this is that you will be able to experience what I have experienced with my own children — healthy, vibrant children.
