Immune Support Supplements

Saying goodbye to summer is hard. Especially when fall decides to bring colds and the flu along with it. This year, we’ve seen illness strike earlier than usual. The coughing, sniffling, sneezing, and sore throats are everywhere. If you’re looking for a way to naturally support your immune system, we have several supplements available at our office. Keep reading to learn more about how each supplement works, and when you’d use it.

Immune Supporting Supplements Available at Valeo Health & Wellness Center

  1. Nucleo Immune Premier Research Labs SupplementNucleo Immune™: Used preventatively or while battling a virus. How it works: NucleoImmune contains nucleotides, which are the building blocks of your DNA. When a virus invades your body, it can’t reproduce on its own. Instead, it infects susceptible cells and uses that genetic material (usually RNA or DNA) to produce more viruses. Healthy DNA means fewer susceptible cells which makes it more difficult to the virus to infect (and replicate) in your body.
  2. Congaplex®: Used preventatively or while battling a cold. How it works: Congaplex supports cytokine production in cells, which are released when a substance provokes the immune system. These cytokines help direct the action of the immune system, so having more cytokines may mean better direction for the immune system to target the illness.
  3. Propolis Immune™: Used to support the immune system with respiratory and lung-related illness. How it works: Propolis Immune features premier propolis, a natural, nutritional resin from bee hives that supports healthy immune response. Propolis naturally contains a diverse bioflavonoid spectrum including chrysin (a potential prophylactic agent in immunopathological and physicochemical injuries).
  4. Catalyn supplement from Standard ProcessCatalyn®: Used as a general multi-vitamin. How it works: Catalyn is meant to “bridge the gap” in nutrition and encourage healthy cell function to promote overall health.
  5. Allicidin®: Typically used when fighting a bacterial infection. How it works: Allicidin provides concentrated amounts of allicin (an organosulfur immune compound) from garlic extract to help promote healthy immune and cardiovascular support.
  6. Hyssinol™: Typically used when fighting a viral infection. Hyssinol contains hyssop, which is often used to support digestion and aid in fighting upper respiratory illnesses.
  7. Probiotics: Used for general health support. How it works: Probiotics help to build a strong and diverse gut microbiome. We know that a healthy microbiome is important to the whole body. Strengtia is the most commonly recommended probiotic available at Valeo, although if you suspect you have SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, which has common symptoms of gas, bloating, or other digestive issues), Sibiotica would likely be a better fit.
  8. Vitamin D: Used for general health support. How it works: Vitamin D deficiency is associated with both autoimmune disease and with an increased susceptibility to infections. Vitamin D is important for immune system activation, so maintaining sufficient levels may help support the body when preventing or fighting illness.
