How Valeo’s First Patient Overcame Injury

We’ve said before that we have the best patients and that many of them have become like family. This holds true about Valeo’s very first patient, Matt. Matt was determined from before Valeo even opened its doors to show his support of Dr. Aaron’s (the owner’s) chiropractic endeavors.

“Dr. Aaron and I were in networking group together and he was just finishing up his chiropractic degree and about to start his own place,” explains Matt. “I knew I wanted to be his first patient! I thought it would be a great act of support and I that’s the kind of person I want to be remembered as.”

Fortunately, it’s been easy to remember Matt, as his support hasn’t faltered in the 18 years that Valeo has been in business. Luckily for Matt, too, Valeo has been able to be there to support him in his endeavors, most recently of which involved healing from a back injury.

“Oh, ‘Shoot!’”

Anyone who exercises regularly can tell you how frustrating it is to get injured in a way that interferes with your workouts. That’s why, when Matt was doing deadlifts and felt one side of his lower back ‘snap’, his first words weren’t necessarily appropriate for this article. Let’s just say it was another version of “shoot!”

After the initial pain, Matt’s first thoughts were “I’m not going to be able to exercise for weeks!” The thought of losing the progress he’s made in his lifting and missing out on the endorphins that working out brings him was frustrating, literally adding insult to injury! “I knew I had to get into Valeo right away,” he says, “and made an appointment for the very next day.”

Originally, Matt expected it to be three to four weeks before he could do any sort of exercise, based on the pain, location, and type of injury. “I tore a muscle very badly … I was expecting to be out of commission for about a month,” shares Matt. To his surprise (and delight) Matt was able to lightly jogging and certain types of lifting within one week and was back to doing his deadlifts within two weeks.

The Reason for Quick Recovery

Matt applauds Dr. Aaron’s chiropractic work and the use of Valeo’s new Class IV laser as the reason for his quick recovery.

“It’s irrefutable, in my opinion, that Dr. Aaron and the laser sped up my healing. Of course, I can’t say for sure by how much, but my guess is that it cut the time it took to get back into action in half. I was so surprised and happy to be back to lifting like I was before. I feel great — no complaints!”

When it comes to using the laser, Matt said it was an enjoyable experience, too. “There was just a warm, soothing feeling when using it,” he explains, “I could tell it was doing something to facilitate healing!”

Another important factor to Matt’s quick recovery is his dedication to wellness care, coming in approximately monthly for maintenance adjustments to keep the brain communicating well with the rest of his body. What many people don’t realize is that the communication between your brain and body can be interrupted when something is out of alignment… and it’s hard to recover when the body can’t communicate clearly with the brain and vice versa. So, we give a huge props to Matt for taking great care of himself, not just with his workouts, but with his dedication to chiropractic care, too!
