Adios, Allergies!

If you suffer from allergies, we don’t even need to tell you they’re a pain. You’re well aware! As a Minnesotan, allergies can be especially frustrating as you just want to celebrate the warmer temps and get outside after months of cold and mostly staying indoors. We want to help you manage your allergies and enjoy the beautiful outdoor spring weather.

Here are a few of our favorite natural allergy-fighting supplements, how they differ from each other.

Allercaps from Premier Research Labs

Allercaps contains NAC (N-acetyle-l-cysteine) which is the precursor for making glutathione (the most powerful antioxidant) and very supportive for respiratory system.  It also contains quercetin as an anti-histamine and bromelain (proteolytic enzymes) which breaks down proteins associated with certain environmental allergies like pet dander and pollen.  This supplement can be helpful for people who have a lot of nasal congestion due to allergies by breaking down the proteins, thinning the mucus, blocking histamine receptors, and supporting detoxification.

Allerplex from Standard Process

Allerplex is a combinatoin of Pneumotrophin PMG, Drenatrophin PMG, Cataplex A-C, Betacol, and Antronex. (But what does that mean?! Don’t worry, we’re about to tell you!) Pneumotrophin PMG is useful for repair and rebuilding of lungs, Drenatrophin PMG supports adrenal function, aids in the repair of the gland, and helps normalize adrenal hormone output , Cataplex A-C is a combo of vitamin C as an antioxidant, Vitamin A for mucous membrane health, and echinacea for immune support. Betacol is a liver detoxifier. Antronex is the blood filtering fraction of the liver. I recommend this one for people who have allergies and/or asthma or who need additional liver detox support.

Histo-X from APEX Energetics

Histo-X has a broad spectrum of herbs (including butterbur, mangosteen, stinging nettle, ginger, and quercetin)—a wider variety of herbs than most antihistamine supplements. This allows for a comprehensive approach to tackling allergies, and it can potentially limit the production of histamine over time while also addressing multiple aspects of the histamine response.

As always, we recommend checking with your doctor at Valeo to determine which supplement is best for your specific needs, but for the everyday allergy sufferer without other complex needs, Histo-X would typically be the first choice.
