Leveraging Blood Labs for Optimal Health

Man getting his blood drawn

Fatigue and brain fog are common ailments in today’s world. But they don’t have to be! We had the pleasure of speaking to Graham, a patient at Valeo, about his journey with getting to the root cause of his fatigue and trouble focusing.

“I’ve known Dr. Aaron Morland for a while and consistently got adjusted by him for a couple of years,” explains Graham. “Even when I wasn’t getting adjusted regularly, I would connect with him on occasion. But when I started experiencing fatigue and had a hard time focusing, I reached back out to him to get direction on how to approach it. I knew I was feeling ‘off’ but didn’t know why… it could have been hundreds of different reasons!”

Digging Deeper with a Blood Panel

After talking through his symptoms with Dr. Aaron, Graham decided to dig deeper into what could be causing his health issues with a blood panel Dr. Aaron recommended.

“When the results came in, Dr. Aaron recommended meeting with Dr. Kassie to walk through them,” says Graham.

The results report is very thorough, but Graham appreciated diving even deeper with Dr. Kassie.

“Meeting with Dr. Kassie was really helpful. She took around two hours to walk through the different markers and explain their functions, the reasons they may be off, and how they all work together,” he explains, adding “she was able to put everything into context. For example, she could explain that certain markers being out of optimal range may not be a big concern, while others, or a certain pattern of out-of-range-markers, are more concerning. She really helped me to look at the big picture.”

From Diagnostics to Direction

As Dr. Kassie reviewed the results and the report with Graham, she identified things that could help get the markers back into optimal range.

“Overall, Dr. Kassie recommended a few things: some supplements, some symptom-specific exercises, and seeing Dr. Aaron again to see if I have some sort of hernia,” shares Graham. “It’s been about a month since I started incorporating the supplements that Dr. Kassie recommended, and I definitely notice an improvement in my energy and focus. I feel like I’m more productive at work, and I have fewer cravings and blood sugar issues. The improvements have been gradual so far, but they seem to continue to get better. I will follow Dr. Kassie’s recommendations for six months and then check back in to see how things are going and whether we should retest some of the markers.”

Valuing Valeo

During our conversation, it was clear that Graham was pleased with all that he learned from the blood labs, report, and Dr. Kassie.

“I am super grateful that I did the labs and was able to gain an awareness of how ‘off’ some of my markers were. Being able to see the issues on paper and realize the severity of them was helpful to clarify the scope of my personal health and determine a path forward… and to validate how I had been feeling.”

Graham’s appreciation goes beyond the availability of health services at Valeo and our focus on finding the root cause.

“Something I really appreciate about Valeo and the team there is they are very relational and have a want to see you get better. Dr. Aaron prays for me every time I come in and wouldn’t be surprised if he does so outside of visits as well.”
